My Story
I walked up a set of steps with two walls on either side made of wood paneling; my footsteps were echoing. I opened the thin door and, there you were. You were sitting, with your legs crossed, in a fire-engine red dress and black heels, your blue eyes sparkled like sapphires. We linked eyes and, I smiled. Then, you flashed a smile that lit up the whole room. I could feel a string between us--like we had a piece of yarn knotted at either end of our hearts. And, when I started to walk away, I could feel a tug.
I trotted over to a small bed. The mattress was slightly depressed and, it was covered with a homemade quilt; there was an identical bed right beside it—only a few feet away. In the little space between the beds, there was another girl sitting Indian-style. She had deep, rich, black hair just above her shoulders, richly tanned skin, slightly bucked front teeth, and sagging black bags under her eyes. In between
