Folk Music

Folk music is a blend of traditional sounds and the distinctive genre that developed from the 20th century folk revival. Traditional folk music typically has a regional feel, originally passed down orally to adapt and evolve over time. A second folk revival in the 1960's produced a more recognized contemporary folk music sound. Today you see a wide mix of sounds with folk rock, indie folk, electric folk and folk metal.
