Kirsten Vangsness – Women Crush

kirsten-vangsness-640Oh how I love the FBI Technical Analyst Penelope Garcia!!! Her bright personality, witty comedic sense and her most adorable outfits! I started watching Criminal Minds back in 2005 when it first premiered and instantly had a crush on the character, Penelope! Penelope Garcia is played by Kirsten Vangsness, an American actress and writer. She grew up in Pasadena, California.

The ladies of Criminal Minds keep me captivated. You can see them below from Left to Right: AJ Cook as Jennifer Jareau – Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss – Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia.Kirsten-Vangsness-001

I love the level of chemistry! People ask Kristen if she is dating Shemar Moore and she has to constantly deny the roomers. The two are actually great friends. In fact, when Kristen started off on Criminal Minds she had a smaller role but once the producers saw their chemistry they focused more of her scenes with the two of them together. Her part has grown over the years and the have gained a huge fan following. Shemar Moore plays Derek Morgan, who has given Penelope many nick names over the years: Baby Girl, Doll Face, Sweetness, Mama. He has even created a clothing like for his lady fan followers called “Baby Girl”.

Kirsten-Vangsness-002Kirsten Vangsness first started dated Melanie Goldstein in 2006. Melanie Goldstein proposed to Kirsten Vangsness in November 2012 and later called it off in 2013 when they split. The two met at a party that Kirsten and then boyfriend attended.

“I remember looking at her across a table and just thinking, ‘Oh sh*t — oh sh*t! — everything is going to change.’ And it did — gradually.” ~ Kirsten Vangsness

She eventually broke up with her boyfriend and came out. She had a hard time at first and they didn’t speak for a few years. She later decided to send Melanie an apology letter talking about how she had a hard time when she first came out.

“I sent her an apology letter — you know, because when you come out, you kind of lose your mind. You turn into a 13-year-old again. So I sent her this apology note. She was living her life, and I was living my life, and I didn’t expect things to happen. I was just saying, ‘Hey, I’m sorry, and I just wanted to let you know that I’m out now, and I think I’m more sane, and I just wanted you to know that and to say that I’m sorry.’ So I was just sort of cleaning up my stuff.” ~ Kirsten Vangsness
