Lesbian Sex Myths Debunked

Lesbian Sex Myths Debunked

There is surprisingly little information out there about making sex safe and fun for lesbian couples – and, perhaps even more shockingly, the information that is available is rife with myths, which many people end up believing and parroting. Not being properly informed and cautious can put your sexual health at risk, and potentially even your life. I’m not saying anyone needs to get so fierce about protecting themselves that actually enjoying sex becomes difficult, but there is no harm at all in being prepared, informed, curious, and safe. After all, isn’t sex more enjoyable when you aren’t worrying about catching something?

The most terrifying lesbian sex myth I’ve encountered is that lesbians can’t get STDs. You heard me, ladies: there are women out there who believe they are immune to STDs because they don’t get it on with dudes. Not having sex with men does not make you exempt from STDs, no matter how much or how strongly you believe it. It’s a misguided train of thought, and anyone who perpetuates that is also either misguided, or even potentially doing it maliciously. And you don’t want to wake up next to that with a scorching case of herpes and a head full of regret, do you?

The video I found from Huffpost Live goes into great detail about the myths and misconceptions surrounding lesbian sex, and I found it was actually quite informative.

Making sex fun means first making sex safe, and being comfortable in your own skin – two very important things that people often forget. Catch up below for some solid information, tips, and debunked lesbian sex myths.
