Raeen Roes Wilson was born and raised in when she was 16 years old after a pastor of the Greater Apostolic Faith threatened her mother. She talks about how she felt the faith was like a cult to her, as she was not allowed to wear jewelry, to eat certain things, to date people or listen to music. Once they moved to New York she dove into all kinds of music.
She was born July 10, 1992 as Raeen Roes Wilson and is better know for her stage name Angel Haze. When she was about seven years old she was raped multiple times by two family friends. Her music often talks about the pain she has gone through and what it took her to overcome it. From child abuse to self harm she has rose above it and came out on top.
Angel Haze released her EP Reservation for free online in 2012, and later signed a record deal with Universal Republic Records, eventually moving to Republic Records. She released her debut album Dirty Gold which featured the singles Echelon (It’s My Way) and Battle Cry on December 31st, 2013.
Battle Cry by Angel Haze is about her struggles to overcoming a painful past with abuse and rape and wanting to achieve a more. In her lyrics she states “I been there, I’m still here, and I know how you feel.” She stands up and fights against child abuse.

My favorite lyric of this song is “Never give power to none of you cowards,To tell me what you think my destiny is”. She stands up and follows her heart, knowing since she was nine that she wanted to do something great with her life and spread the message about abuse to help other children. Her lyrics are passionate and bold and come straight from the heart.

Life isn’t always easy and everyone goes through something different. Angel Haze decided to take her life and dedicate it to rapping, songwriting and helping others.
She released a song called CANDLXS and by the love struck lyrics the self-painted portrait of the two of them it is safe to say it is about her girlfriend Ireland Baldwin. Angle Haze identifies as pansexual and believes that love is love is boundary-less.
