LGBT Friendly Lingerie

GFM-Blog-Bluestockings-640When you hear the word lingerie thoughts of Agent Provocateur and Victoria Secret models most likely pop into your mind. You may think of lingerie as something lacy and silky. An image you may find really sexy but also incredibly uncomfortable.

Did you know the definition of lingerie is quite simple however…

lin·ge·rie ˌlän(d)ZHəˈrā,ˈlän(d)ZHəˌrē/

noun

  1. women’s underwear and nightclothes.

Jeanna Kadlec is now stepping up and working with the LGBT community specifically to find lingerie pieces that are comfortable, cute and manageable. Although, in reality you don’t have to gay or transgender to look for more livable lingerie these are marginalized groups that are often overlooked and a lot of times in need of more relaxed lingerie to make them feel comfortable in their identity.

Kadlec’s online store that goes by the name of Bluestockings Boutique creates and sells lingerie for those “who have been marginalized by the mainstream lingerie industry and to offer them an experience that reflects their identities, their bodies, and their values.”

Her company works on the principles of feminism and equality catering to everybody of all sizes, colors and sexual orientation as well as helping out the surrounding community in the Boston area where it’s established by providing clothing to homeless and lower income women and taking part in Boston Pride.

The lingerie that Kadlec picks out is all sustainability sourced, meaning that she chooses quality over quantity and looks for fair wages and environmentally safe materials in the making of her lingerie.

This lingerie comes in an array of sizes including much smaller and larger sizes that you most likely wouldn’t find in your average underwear shop.  The lingerie shopped has just launched this month (April 2015) and with great ethics we hope that it is here to stay.

Check out their shop if you’re interested in finding lingerie to suit your needs. Unfortunately, I know that not everybody can afford to pay for expensive lingerie, specifically binders. I want you to be able to express yourself as well as be safe and healthy at the same time. Check out my other blog post on safe alternative options for chest binding!  Or if you’re looking for underwear that can hold a dildo, aka the new strap-on then check out our post with RodeoH!
